On the very last day of term (Thursday 28th March) we will be raising money for CLIC Sargent on the Bramble Ward at RD&E hospital.
We are doing this to give our support to our very own Jasmine Larkman in year 5, who is bravely battling leukaemia. This is her chosen charity, which will mean that we will not be supporting Comic Relief or Children in Need at school this year. We would rather divert all our fundraising to show Jasmine we are supporting and thinking about her in the next phase of her fight against cancer.
What we are doing: The Big Buzz!!
On the last day of term children are invited to come to school in non-uniform and with a crazy hairstyle or wig.
- The children can wear a wig or update their look with a fun new hairstyle. They can dye their hair a bright new colour – pink perhaps – or spray it just for the day!
- There will competitions/prizes for the best new look, most fun or wacky hairstyle, as voted by the children.
- The class that raise the most money will win an extra long playtime/time on the iPads.
- Throughout the day some children will be holding separate events, like a dance-athon and a read-athon.
- Jasmine will also have her own blog, which we will be adding to on the day. This will contain videos, pictures or other work to show how each class are supporting her.
In return we ask that children collect sponsorship money. We are aiming to raise £600 which is £2 per pupil.
If this total is reached on the day then Mr Hitchcock (and other members of staff he can persuade!) will let the children loose with hair clippers/gel/dye on his hair and beard!
There are two ways to collect sponsorship. The preferred way (the cheapest and easiest for the charity) is online. Please donate at: www.virginmoneygiving.com/team/jasmine3
Otherwise, you can fill out the attached sponsorship, or send some money in on the day. If you choose to use the paper sponsorship form it is really important for your sponsors to fill out the form correctly with all of their details in order for us to claim gift aid: this can increase their donation by 25p for every £1 they donate.
This will be a fantastic day to show Jasmine we are right behind her!!

Crazy hair antics
I’m so pleased and proud of the effort for Jasmine today – we are at QUADRUPLE our target and still counting past £2500!!!! AMAZING!
I got restyled twice as a result, the second time losing (nearly all of) my hair and beard!!!
Pictured below are the class winners, plus an amazing effort from Charlotte. Thanks to Mr Hasted for also volunteering to have a close trim!!!

Not only did we have H-Factor today – we had a special opening from our 3D dancers and choir.
They were really great – the standard of choreography and commitment to learn the steps by the children was top class.

H-Factor 2013!!
Wow – what a talent show today.
In my opinion the best H-Factor yet. The quality was very good, with the dancing again a real strength. Well done to all the performers – you were brave, magnificent and entertained us all afternoon.
The crowd were also terrific: the perfect, respectful audience – well done to you too.
Oliver, Jamie, Jackson and Adam were in third place for their very entertaining comedy.
In second place was Esther with a super singing performance. Esther was also outstanding at last week’s concert, so a real star.
And in first place, was Katie. She planned, performed and sung her way to the top of the judge’s scorecard. A very talented young lady. WELL DONE!!
