SCHOOL IMPROVEMENT 2025-2026
At Hayward’s we continue to strive to make the school the best place it can be. This year we will be working on the following areas of school improvement:
English and Maths
- To continue to establish strong foundational skills and accuracy in Writing in EYFS, Year 1 and Year 2.
- To continue to build on our good attainment in Reading, Writing, SPAG and Maths at Key Stage 2
- To ensure that there is as small a gap as possible between how well non-disadvantaged pupils do in school and those who are disadvantaged.
- To ensure that Mastering Number is embedded across the school and the children are confidently talking about their maths and can reason well when problem-solving.
Wider Curriculum
- Respond thoughtfully to any recommendations made in the Curriculum and Assessment review and ensure that any decisions made are right for the children at Hayward’s.
- To develop pupils oracy skills and their confidence when sharing their ideas in lessons and in more formal situations.
EYFS
- To continue to build on the attainment successes in EYFS that we have had in recent years.
- For the disadvantaged need of pupils to be identified as early as possible and provision put in place to meet need to ensure that foundational skills are strong and children don’t leave EYFS with gaps in their learning.
SEND
- To continue to adapt teaching effectively to support all learners.
- To ensure that the Ordinarily Available Inclusive Provision (OAIP) at Hayward’s is effective.
- To continue to provide staff with training in supporting pupils with complex SEND needs including Autistic Spectrum Condition and with Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs.
PLAY
- To support children in developing the nature of their play and to challenge themselves in the playground environment while learning to manage risk effectively.
OFSTED
OFSTED inspect all schools to ensure the quality of education children across the country receive is at least 'good'.
As a school, we believe that we provide our children with a very high standard of education, which also reflects the diverse individual children we teach and the unique challenges of education in the 21st Century.
