Science Week 2019

Over the course of British Science Week, Hayward's have had a focus on sustainability and recycling- particularly looking at the use of plastics. The week started off with an exciting assembly introducing the eco council and Sally Jackson from Resource Futures came to discuss key ways to improve the sustainability at Hayward's. Some KS2 classes had the chance to investigate this further by taking part in workshops lead by Sally.

During the week, a team of chosen scientists from across the school have been helping Miss Prentice and Mrs Miller to investigate the impact plastic is having on our environment. They have completed several investigations including: Making beeswax food wraps; simulating the difficulties of animals feeding with plastics found in their environment and looking at the chemical process of making plastic.

Mrs Miller and Miss Prentice have been very impressed with the optional home learning that has already been handed in! Any more would be fantastic to see. It is brilliant to see the enthusiasm for Science across the school.
