Currently in Year 5...

After a turbulent few years, life has started to level out and now resembles something close to normal! The children, who have been absolute superstars through the constant changes, have come into Autumn term eager to learn. They are completely engrossed in our current topic, Who Do You Think You Are Kidding Mr Hitler, which is all about World War 2, and are looking forward to a trip to Cobbaton Combat Collective soon.

In Maths, we are covering Addition and Subtraction and Multiplication and Division, with regular revision of arithmetic skills and ensuring the children have a knowledge of the basic building blocks of place value.

In English, we are developing our writing in a range of genres, including writing stories from perspective, writing reports, exploring a classic story and through it all developing our grammar, punctuation and spelling skills.

This term we are focusing on the tious/cious spelling, as well as homophones and words that are often confused.
