Fred Games to play at home

Fred the frog can only speak in sounds. The children have to "Fred Talk" (say the sounds) and then blend them together to say the word. A simple game you could play is 'Fred says' instead of Simon says! Remember to use the letter sounds not the letter names.

These videos show games you can play at home.

What's at the zoo?

What's in the fridge?

What's in the toy box?

You can also use Fred Talk when giving instructions to your child (the words in bold are examples of ones you could Fred Talk) or when telling them something:

Can you go and g-e-t your c-oa-t?

Are there r-ai-n c-l-ou-d-s outside?

C-a-n you see the s-u-n?

Y-e-s we are going to the sh-o-p-s.

N-o you can't p-l-ay n-ow!

The Special Friends have been underlined (2 or more letters making one sound)

How about playing what is in....

Fred’s wardrobe? hat h-a-t; coat c-ow-t; socks s-o-c-s; shorts sh-or-t-s; dress d-r-e-ss; skirt s-k-ir-t

Fred’s toy box? h-a-t, b-u-s, c-a-t, p-i-g, d-u-ck,

Fred’s bedroom b-e-d, r-u-g, b-oo-k, l-am-p, m-a-t, l-igh-t, b-o-x

Fred’s bathroom l-oo, s-i-nk, m-a-t, s-ow-p, b-r-u-sh, c-r-eem b-ar-th

Fred’s kitchen f-or-k, s-p-oo-n, n-igh-f, p-a-n, p-l-ay-t, b-ow-l;  c-u-p; m-u-g; ch-air;
