Science in Year 2
Wherever possible, we love to get hands on with Science and to explore our learning practically.
In autumn 1, we received a letter from Woody, a woodlouse who was new to Crediton. He liked the look of Hayward's as a new home but he wasn't sure which microhabitat was the most suitable for him. By investigating the microhabitats on the school grounds, we were able to find out where woodlice most preferred to live. We also helped Woody's friends - Ant, Worm and Snail - find out where they should live too.
Soon we will be investigating materials where we will be finding out about how the properties of materials make them suitable for particular jobs. We will also investigate which materials can be bent, twisted, stretched and squashed.
