Salary: NJC Grade F, point 24, £29,174 FTE (£15.12 per hour)

Hours:  24 hours per week

Contract type: Part-time, permanent, term time only  

Reporting to: Inclusion Lead (Assistant Headteacher) and where necessary the Headteacher

Responsible for: Family Support Work

We know that many of our children and families, at different times within their primary education, may need access to family support of some kind. This may be supporting the management of challenging behaviour at home, coping with a difficult family situation, helping with housing and benefits or supporting a child who may have high levels of anxiety. We want to be able to respond to this need quickly and effectively while ensuring that any barriers, that impact on their ability to learn, are removed (or the impact lessened) as quickly as possible.

At Hayward’s we already have three pastoral leads across the school who have dedicated time within the week and are about to welcome a new Assistant Headteacher who will be leading on Inclusion. Part of the Assistant Headteacher’s role will be working closely with the Family Support worker to ensure that their work has maximum impact. We will be looking for the Family Support Worker to, at the same time, provide support for the Assistant Headteacher by carrying out a lot of the family focused work for the school.

The family support worker, under the direction of the Inclusion Lead, will take a role in:

  • Planning, delivering, monitoring and evaluating the Early Help Provision at Hayward’s.
  • Ensuring that families are well supported and appropriate time-limited help and support is available to them.
  • Leading and carrying out key actions as a result of ‘Team Around the Family’ (TAF) meetings.
  • Identifying the families and children who are most at need of the support.
  • Ensuring that key staff are well briefed as part of the school’s At Risk Children (ARC) Meetings.
  • Supporting and promoting good attendance amongst all pupils.
